Jeram Tandel started his career as an art teacher in 1963 and retired as the principal of Shree Pratap High School, Vadodara in 1999. During his professional career his artist soul did not give up doing creative paintings, though he painted in the realistic style in the beginning of his artistic career and also published useful books on painting and drawing for school students as well as for elementary and intermediate government art exams. Jeram Tandel had undergone experiences of both rural, coastal and the crowded, noisy city life. His past and present happy as well as unhappy associations, observations, and memories of the rural activities, fisherman's activities and urban life's activities have found natural and spontaneous expression in his art exhibitions.
