Exhibition by Jesse Stark & Lakan Ilaw
Currently, Jesse lives a true artist’s life: In the woods, on family estate property with his dogs and three generations of Starks. His work reflects Jesse’s love of nature. He draws inspiration from the natural world around him. Drawing and painting all hours of the day and night - whenever inspiration strikes! “Formal Training” began in third grade when a teacher, as a reward for the completion of work, would give Jesse cartoon characters to draw in a mix and match style during his free time. Ever since then, Jesse has always drawn and painted, expanding his skills through several art classes in high school and college. Jesse worked for his father, Larry Stark a master goldsmith, as a jewelry designer part-time from the age of 12, then full-time for five years after high school, furthering his skills in a more tactile way with wax carvings, casting, metal fabrications, etc. But his first love has always been drawing and painting with recurring themes of landscapes, abstracts and cartoon characters.
Lakan Ilaw first solo exhibition in Sacramento. Lakan Ilaw is a graduate of Manila, Philippines with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Major in Advertising. He has been painting for several years winning several awards in Advertising since 1988 from Television to Poster and Print Categories. His medium is oil on canvas.
