Laura M. Manthey: From the country of her birth, England, to her current home in California, Laura has had one constant passion, the creation of art. Should you ask her, “When did you first begin to draw?” Laura will often shrug and shake her head before offering a small smile, “I have always done art.” For her, there has never been a time when she was not doodling or sketching or painting or studying famed artists and their creations. As a child, her paintings and drawings littered the home. Laura has since won coveted prizes in high school and college as well as local and county competitions.
In just 2 years, Robin Tomlinson has grabbed the attention of the local art world with her unique style and attitude. With little formal training she has birthed a technique and style that is candy to the eye & spirit. Her enthusiasm, heart, mood and focus dominate all her pieces. She chooses to work mainly with a clay like texture, metallic acrylics, vibrant oils, glass, rope, stone and other earthy textures. Most are then brought to dazzling life with a high gloss clear acrylic. Only two years after creating her first piece, Robin was commissioned by Red Hawk Casino to help showcase their High Limit area. She created 7 pieces to complement their décor.
